Raging Rhino MegaWays
Raging Rhino MegaWays Slot Review (WMS) — Did They Overkill It?
It’s time to roll out the big guns.
It’s Raging Rhino from WMS and the popular MegaWays mechanic from Big Time Gaming (BTG) that promises to be a match made in heaven for players who enjoy high volatility slots. The original 4,096 ways have been transformed into 324-117,649 Raging Rhino MegaWays! Even the RTP has been improved slightly from 95.91% to 96.18%. But they did make some sacrifices to accommodate for the updated bonus and some other raging features. Let’s find out if they’re still any good!

Recommended WMS casino
Raging Rhino MegaWays is actually SG Digital’s second remake of the series, followed by Medusa MegaWays, both of which you can already play at our recommended WMS casinos.
The new Raging Rhino that’s out from 25 June 2019 is largely the same as before, including a mix of Bonanza features like the unlimited win multiplier during Free Spins! Yup, it also has an autoplay, which you may need because volatility is yet again turned to the MAX.
That said, here’s how much of an overkill slot it really is.
Raging Rhino MegaWays Explained
So, how does MegaWays work in the Raging Rhino video slot?
- Each spin can produce 324-117,649 ways to win (left to right), depending how many of the possible 2-7 symbols appear on each of the 6 reels.
- There’s an extra row for reels 2-5 at the top which spins horizontally.
- Winning symbols always explode (Cascade Feature) and get replaced by new or existing symbols above, creating more chances of winning at no extra cost.
It may sound complex but it’s actually a relatively simple game.
There are some important differences in the Raging Rhino MegaWays symbols compared to the original game. All base game wins (apart from the Rhino symbol) now need at least 3-of-a-kind for a win and pay up to 25x (VS 7.50x previously).
Note that the Wild symbol in the base game can appear only on the top row AND there’s no more 1,000x total bet multiplier or any coin prizes for Scatters/Bonuses.
Speaking of bonuses, here’s what’s new.
Free Spins Bonus – Unlimited Win Multiplier + Wild Multipliers
Apparently, the Free Spins bonus is a mix of the classic Raging Rhino and Bonanza.
First, to trigger 8 Free Spins, you need x4 or more (not x3 like before) Bonus/Diamond symbols. However, you’ll only need x3 Bonus/Diamond symbols DURING the bonus to re-trigger it.
There’s no Buy Pass feature like you get in Medusa MegaWays, but the Bonus Guarantee seems to be a part of the volatile bonus. What it does is guarantee that whatever happens you’ll win at least 10x the total bet.
Next, the Wild multipliers.
With every winning Wild symbol, you’ll also get a random Wild multiplier of not only x2 or x3 like before, but up to x5! Besides, during the bonus, Wilds will not only appear on the top row but also on reels 2-5.
Finally, the unlimited win multiplier.
This is the mother of all multipliers because each time you trigger a win during the Free Spins, the multiplier increases by x1. Thanks to the cascading symbols, a single Free Spin can actually last for quite some time, while also increasing the multiplier and considerably boosting your chances of hitting a major win.
As expected, the bonus is a feisty one, so that’s where the Bonus Guarantee comes into play which activates a 10x Total Bet reward if you accumulate less than that. But when the magic happens between both multipliers (the win multiplier and the wild multiplier), your balance is sure to get a nice lift-off 🚀
Raging Rhino MegaWays Final Thoughts
SG Digital has come on board alongside other MegaWays licensees like Blueprint Gaming, Merkur, Red Tiger, and Relax Gaming to put a spin on their iconic games and hopefully release new titles in the future.
The brand-new Raging Rhino MegaWays turned out to be one beast of a slot with very familiar sounds, symbols and to a large part also the general feel of the original game. That’s quite okay given the trend and history of WMS games, so fans of both will love the high highs and low lows of the remake.
You’ll find the new Raging Rhino MegaWays online slot at recommended casinos from 25th June 2019.
You have been warned. Enjoy!
