Bonanza MegaPays Slot Review (Big Time Gaming)

The popular Bonanza MegaWays slot is back, and this time it has 4 progressive jackpots as part of the MegaPays jackpot pool!

The new Bonanza MegaPays comes with the same Wild West slash Gold Mine theme. Although Big Time Gaming has remastered the game, very little has changed visually. Under the hood, one wouldn’t tell the games apart either, except it is the first game that features the studio’s proprietary network jackpot MegaPays with the Mini, Midi, Major and Mega Jackpot. The biggest one starts at 300,000 and there’s no capped limit on all of them. Jackpot wins aside, the MegaPays Bonanza can generate wins of up to 17,926x with good old 117,649 ways to win, reactions and a Free Spins bonus.

Bonanza MegaPays is out from 7 June at select Big Time Gaming slot sites like Unibet.

MegaWays + DuelReaction

When comparing the paytable from the MegaPays game with the original, you’ll notice that most symbols have slightly higher values. The Purple Diamond is still by far the most expensive symbol, paying as much as 50x for a 6-of-a-kind. It’s also the only symbol that pays for 2-of-a-kind.

As before, all symbols come stacked. Given that this is a MegaWay slot, the symbols can be formed on the reels in different combinations depending on how many ways to win are generated each spin. Upon each win, the winning symbols react and implode for new ones to take their place. This happens in a downward direction on the main reel and horizontally on the extra reel with symbol carts. This makes for the DuelReaction setup, which is a recurring theme in BTG’s portfolio.

MegaPays Feature

The main reason you’d want to switch to the Bonanza MegaPays version is the potential to win a share of the jackpot pool. For that, you’ll need some luck, because the jackpot feature is triggered randomly. Once you hear a bell ring, you’ll be teleported to the Bellagio in Vegas where a symbol will be randomly picked from Ace to Nine. This will be your special MegaPays symbol that will appear highlighted on the new 6×7 reel. Every time this special symbol shows show up, it will drop to the bottom of the reel. The reels will then re-spin until there are no more new special symbols.

To win 1 of 4 MegaPays Jackpots, you’ll need a minimum number of that special symbol:

  • Mini Jackpot (£100+) – 4-7 symbols
  • Midi Jackpot (£1,500+) – 8-11 symbols
  • Major Jackpot (£20,000+) – 12-14 symbols
  • Mega Jackpot (£300,000+)– 15 or more symbols.

👍 Tip: Higher stakes increase the chances of triggering the MegaPays Feature.

Each bet contributes to the jackpots as follows: Mini 0.15%, Midi 0.13%, Major 0.12% and Mega 0.11%. The four jackpots have an RTP of 9.44% or the total slot RTP of 96.40%. Because some of that staking fuel is lost for the benefit of the jackpot (and lucky players who trigger them), payouts should be a bit more diluted. However, the 96.40% is still higher than the original game, which has an RTP of exactly 96%.

Free Spins Bonus

If you have no luck with MegaPays then there’s a chance to strike some good wins in the Bonanza Free Spins bonus. As usual, you’ll need at least four Scatters that spell G, O, L, D, anywhere on the screen. For that, you’ll get 12 free spins and +5 for each additional Scatter.

The biggest selling point of this bonus is the unlimited win multiplier which increases after every reaction. Bonus re-triggers can also go a long way, for which you’ll need 3 or 4 Free Spin Scatters in the cart reel. There’s no limit to the re-triggers, but they certainly don’t trigger as often as in King of Cats with the PlayerSelect feature.

Conclusion

Big Time Gaming has chosen their most popular, almost time-proof game of theirs to be their first jackpot slot. Although the concept and mechanics of the jackpot is nothing new, like the Bonanza game itself, it opens some interesting challenges to both the existing fanbase and new players. It helps that the developer also upgraded the game to support full-screen portrait. Like the original, however, it is a slow burner, so find yourself a comfy spot and a drink as it might take a while to warm up that MegaWays engine.

Occasionally though, there will be a MegaPays opportunity, and some will even see the Mega Jackpot flash before their eyes. The good news is that all four jackpots are available regardless of the bet size. Ironically, MegaPays favours high bets, at least the feature does. That means a player who bets 0.20 will have a different experience compared to someone who plays with 20-credit stakes.

Bonanza is a tried and tested slot that has become a classic. While there are MegaWays slots with progressive jackpots already available, such as Blueprint’s Jackpot King, you can’t go very wrong with a strong title that is also simple enough to accommodate for a jackpot. With the right expectations, Bonanza MegaPays has the potential to become a player magnet for another few years.

Can you trust Mvideoslots.com reviews? I hope so, because at the end of the day I want you to be happy with the casino or slot that you choose. But I also encourage you to look at other trusted sites which may have different opinions. If you decide to look around then make sure that it is a trusted source because it is common practice for casino operators to have their own “review sites” which are biased, not to mention the sites which have reviews written by people who are not following the industry.
