Duplicating Wilds + Reactions

A highlight feature in Beef Lightning’s base game is the Duplicating Wild.

It starts as a regular Wild symbol that appears on reels 2—6. At any time, it can extend to cover the entire reel. Unlike the Angel Wilds in Lil’ Devil, these substitute symbols won’t have a multiplier on them. Still, there are four high symbols among a total of 10 stackable ones, that can pay up to 20x for 6-of-a-kind. With enough mega-ways on a lucky spin, the slot can generate up to 28,674x in the base game alone. Reactions too will have quite a lot to do with that, as they will always replace the winning symbols with new ones dropped from above.

Duplicating Wilds remind me a lot of Microgaming’s sports slots like Football Star Deluxe. That’s partly because they seem to have a good chance of appearing on consecutive reactions. In the bonus, these wilds are especially valuable since they will always expand on up to three reels at once.

Free Spins Bonus

Get a minimum of 3 Scatters lined up on the screen to win 12 free spins. You’ll get +4 spins for each extra Scatter. That sounds good on paper, but the bonus trigger frequency is all over the place. The good news is that once you’re in the bonus, it’s possible to re-trigger, which frankly happened every few bonuses during my testing.

The bonus also opens up a window into two new features: Bonus Coins and Cow Auction.

Bonus Coin

Bonus coins are quite popular at the moment, a signature feature that Push Gaming has been successfully applying to their new games like Jammin’ Jars 2. In Beef Lightning though, each bonus coin can reveal 1 of 6 rewards:

• Increased number of cows
• Cow auction bids
• Free Spins re-trigger
• Gold Trophy (25,000x stake)
• Silver Medal (2,500x stake)
• Bronze Medal (500x stake).

The last three, the trophy and medals, each have a meter with 3, 4 and 5 levels respectively. As soon as the bonus coins reveal the respective symbols enough times, the reward is instantly yours regardless of the stake, which by the way ranges between 0.20 and 7.50 per spin. By no means a small reward, it is nevertheless a difficult game to get even that 500x Bronze Medal win compared to Hacksaw Gaming slots like Cubes 2 for example. But then again, a good portion of the RTP is assumingly allocated to the Duplicating Wild.

Then there’s the Cow Auction with bids and cows.

Cow Auction

The Cow Auction is essentially a total win multiplier. All bids that you collect will directly multiply your bet, while all the cows that get revealed will multiply the bid multiplier. In other words, 20 bids and 8 cows make for a total win multiplier of x160, as on the image above.
