Reactoonz 2 Slot Review (Play’n GO)

One of the most brilliant Play’n GO slots gets a sequel – Reactoonz 2!

This fine revision of the 2017 mega-hit took its time to surprise the fans. It too plays as a 7×7 cascading grid slot, featuring two new Wilds in addition to the crowd-pleasing 3×3 Gargantoons! The maximum win potential of this release has been increased to 5,083x bet, while the return to player got capped to 96.20% and volatility turned down a notch. See what this means in the review below.

Reactoonz has been available from 1st of October 2020 at licensed and trusted Play’n GO slot sites like PlayOJO.

Cascading Symbols + Fluctometer

Fluctuating symbols and Electric Wilds.
Fluctuating symbols and Electric Wilds.

First things first, to get a win in this game you must get 5 or more matching symbols touching horizontally or/and vertically. All winning symbols explode, giving room for new symbols and opportunities. This includes 8 symbols, of which 4 are fluctuating symbols. These one-eyed symbols are chosen at random before each round.

Unlike the first Reactoonz, where any win will charge up the bonus, and up to four bonuses can be queued for release one after another, the second game is all about Electric Wilds. Getting a win with a chosen fluctuating symbol fills up the Fluctometer and creates an Electric Wild. Fill it up to get additional 1-3 Electric Wilds in random positions after a non-winning spin.

Note: The Fluctometer always resets on a non-winning spin.

Wild Pair Explosion

Electric Wilds zap symbols and charge up the Quantumeter.

When you have 2 or more Electric Wilds on the screen, they will zap surrounding or all other symbols, charging the Quantumeter as a result. However, symbols removed will not pay out.

👍 Tip: If there are any Uncharged Wilds on the screen, they can too transform into Electric Wilds, but they don’t form wins on their own.

Other than that, there are no multipliers in this game, which you’ll find in the first game and other prominent grid slots like Dragonfall by Blueprint.

Quantumeter

Get to level 4 to release the 3x3 Gargantoon and more.
Get to level 4 to release the 3×3 Gargantoon and more.

The Quantumeter is charged only with Electric Wilds. Fill it up and get special symbols in return. As you’ll see below, partial fills also make a difference:

  • Level 1 – unleashes four 1×1 Energoon Wilds (substitute for all other symbols)
  • Level 2 – unleashes a 2×2 Energoon Wild
  • Level 3 – unleashes 3×3 Gargantoon Wild (substitute for all other symbols)
  • Level 4 – adds x2 multiplier, releases 3×3 Gargantoon Wild, two 2×2 Gargantoons, nine 1×1 Gargantoons.

Keep in mind that Quantumeter will always reset after a non-winning spin, which makes it so much trickier to fill up. The special Wilds also don’t guarantee that you will win. As to be expected, the Gargantoon is a rare feature that usually takes at best a couple of hundred spins to trigger. And that is despite the fact that the game is played with a volatility of 8 out of 10, versus 10 out of 10.

👍 Tip: There are different RTP variants of Reactoonz 2, including 96.20% and 94.20%. The version that is available for play will depend on each casino.

Release the Gimp Gargantoon!

Create Electric Wilds by winning with fluctuating symbols, filling the Fluctometer, and charging Uncharged Wilds!

By restructuring the bonuses, Play’n GO has created a grid slot that’s easier to comprehend. But that is perhaps the only significant update. Base game wins seem to be smaller than the first game (due to the lack of multipliers and smaller payouts in the paytable) and it feels harder to trigger the main bonus since the bonuses no longer accumulate. The official stats also suggest that hitting the maximum win will be much harder in the sequel compared to the first game. As a result, it would be reasonable to expect the biggest wins to be more between 1,000x and 2,000x. That is something to keep in mind when given a choice to bet up to £100 per spin.

So, does it make the game better or worse than Reactoonz 1? It’s less volatile, which is good news for most players, and it’s still fun to play. Other than that it should be experienced first hand to get a feel of the minor tweaks, which mostly comes down to personal preference.

Good luck!
