Sakura Fortune 2
Sakura Fortune 2 Slot Review (Quickspin)
Sakura Fortune 2 is a hotly anticipated sequel from Quickspin.
Similarly to the successful remake of Big Bad Wolf last year, this Japanese warrior slot shares a similar cult classic heritage. This is why this part two is the biggest release from the studio so far in 2022. The beloved Stacked Nudging Wilds make a comeback in this game as does the Free Spins bonus which takes things even further this time with a special wild multiplier boost. Combined with a new look that hosts 5 reels in a 3-4-4-4-3 symbol setup and fixed 576 ways to win, the game’s maximum win potential has also increased 20x and is now above 20,000x!
Sakura Fortune 2 will be out on the 12th of April 2022 at licensed Quickspin slot sites like Unibet. See below for the full review and a quick comparison between the new and the 2017 slot.

Although there are now a total of 576 fixed ways to win, the symbols are largely the same. There are 5 medium to high paying symbols (Sensei pays the most, up to 6x per 5+oak), plus 4 low paying symbols in the form of coins. The same goes for the expanding wild symbols, which are still key to most big wins, staying true to the foundational features.
Sakura Wild Re-Spins
The expanding Sakura Wilds are at the centre of the game yet again. Like in the original Sakura slot, Sakura Wilds only appear on the three middle reels (reels 2, 3 and 4). They are always stacked 4-high but can be caught in view only partially. Whenever that happens, when only a part of the Sakura Wild is visible, players get a chance that it will nudge to cover the entire reel.
A fully expanded Sakura Wild on any of the three reels means you will also get a +1 free re-spin. Naturally, two or three such wilds will get you 3 free re-spins. Because they stick, getting two or three wilds at once also means you’ll have 2-3 free re-spins that guarantee a big win. It gets even better in the bonus, which for the first time also adds a very welcomed x3 multiplier to the sword-wielding trio.
Free Spins Bonus
To win the main bonus, watch out for three or more Sword Scatters that can appear on any of the reels. The beauty of the sequel is that upon landing at least three Scatters, you’ll also get a second-chance re-spin, during which all reels without the Scatter will re-spin. Because, the more Scatters you get, the more free spins and Locked Sakura Wilds you’ll get at the start of the bonus. Sakura Fortune 2 may be a simple game but tiny things like that add a lot to the overall experience and make it that much more player-friendly. This minor modification is rarely used in other Quickspin games, which makes it that much more special as well.
When the bonus begins, any Sakura Wilds will be placed randomly onto the middle reels. The cherry on top of the cake is that when all 3 Sakura Wilds appear on the screen, all wins will then be multiplied by x3!
From my personal experience, the bonus gets triggered quite often or at least often enough to keep my eyes glued onto the screen, cheering for new Scatters to appear. Admittedly, this Japanese-themed slot is volatile, so wins will fluctuate in the bonus too. But, it’s hard to complain as the slot gives plenty of opportunities at the free games and unlike many online slots alike, Sakura Fortune 2 did not disappoint with a share of 300x+ bonus wins amid some smaller celebrations.
If you think that the bonus isn’t frequent enough then there may be another opportunity for you.
If you happen to live outside of the UK and have access to the feature buy, then you’ll have 3 options at your disposal which can get you into the bonus in no time:
- 9 Free Spins with no locked Sakura Wilds: 55x
- 10 Free Spins with 1 locked Sakura Wild: 70x
- 11 Free Spins with 2 locked Sakura Wilds: 320x.
Note that with each option, RTP will increase from 96.03% to 96.24%, 96.44% and 96.72%, respectively. Theoretically speaking, it’s better to buy the feature than to trigger it naturally, but this is one of those games which tends to perform quite well as a whole, so skipping the base game will come with its own compromises.
Sakura Fortune 1 vs 2
So, how do the two games stack up against each other? Both Sakura Fortune 1 and Sakura Fortune 2 are quite similar when it comes to the main features. Nevertheless, there are some significant differences. Here’s how the two games compare:
|Sakura Fortune 1||Sakura Fortune 2|
|Max RTP||96.58%||96.03% (up to 96.72% in BB)|
|Max win potential||1,023x||22,000x+|
|100x win probability||1 in 876||1 in 1,640|
👍 Tip: Sakura Fortune 2 comes with 90.15%, 94.11% and 96.03% RTP setups. In the case of this slot, all RTP allocations (base game, base feature and free spins) are significantly different in each case. To maximise your chances of winning, choose Sakura Fortune 2 with 96% RTP.
Sakura Fortune 1 was a simple, easy game to play. Did Quickspin kill the spirit by throwing in 500 more lines? It’s a matter of debate but the team did an outstanding job in modernising and, to my mind, improving the slot while retaining the character of the game. While it is more volatile, it’s still a simple and straightforward game to play. It promises to be a delight, especially for someone who’s already familiar with the original title.
It’s tough to say if the game is visually superior to its counterpart (I’m sure many would agree that the first title is an absolute beauty) but the sequel seems to have a more significant edge when it comes to the SFX, like the cinematic score and sounds, which are just amazing and reminiscent of Big Bad Wolf 2, which I’m also a huge fan.
Above all, Sakura Fortune turned out to be a success back in the days because the developers nailed the theme and the features. The lure hasn’t gone anywhere from the second Sakura Fortune, which strongly carries the theme and the newborn series into the present day. It is very much a recommended online slot for most types of players and a sure candidate for one of this year’s slot awards. Did you already see who won in 2021?!
